The Literacy Coach leads the development and improvement for 10-12 teachers in a school building via training, observations, model lessons, feedback conversations, data analysis and more. The Teacher/ Literacy Coach serves as the literacy content expert and provides support on curriculum, high-quality interactions, and the science of teaching reading enforcing and exemplifying methods found within the Charlotte Danielson Domaine 1-4. Essential Job Function
  • Coordinate and implement high-quality reading curriculum utilizing Kagan Blended Learning Model of instruction
  • Facilitate professional development for teachers
  • Observe teachers, provide feedback, and identify next steps to improve instruction in core Math instruction for the purpose of support and not evaluation
  • Monitor interventions conducted by the classroom teacher
  • Model exemplar lessons
  • Support lesson preparation using high-quality curriculum
  • Model and support high-quality interactions with students
  • Analyze data, identify trends, and support teachers to adjust instruction based on data
  • Support teachers with effective parent communication and family involvement
  • Communicate a belief in all students' abilities to become successful readers
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Communicate with leadership team on school-wide Math progress
  • Select, develop, administer, and interpret assessments, both traditional print and electronic, for specific purposes. Helping teachers understand the methodology of teaching students who struggle with learning the fundamental skills and 8th Mathematic practices and must also be able to support teachers in their efforts to provide effective instruction for all students.]
  • Use multiple data sources to analyze individual readers' performance and to plan instruction and intervention. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • Minimum of 3 effective years of experience as a certified ELA teacher
  • Proven results when working with struggling readers
  • Strong knowledge of how children learn to read
  • Knowledge and experience working with high-quality math curriculum
