Job Description

Assistant Professor position in Microbiology The Department of Biology at UNC Greensboro (UNCG) seeks an individual with a strong record of accomplishment in microbiology broadly defined for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Successful applicants will be expected to develop an externally funded research program, mentor undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds, make significant contributions to our Ph.D. program, teach courses in microbiology, cell biology, evolution, and/or genetics, and advanced specialty courses in their discipline at the undergraduate and graduate level. The scholarly environment in the Biology Department is highly collaborative with synergies among faculty who study Environmental Health, Human Health, and Global Change and Biodiversity. UNCG has excellent resources to support this position including molecular and cell biology equipment, microscopy and imaging equipment, shared equipment with the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, and a competitive startup package with excellent laboratory space. The position is available August 2027, and candidates must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline by August 1, 2027. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
