They will also serve as "first connection" with the community and church membership, so strong people skills and a pleasant phone manner are necessary. This professional will be honest, trustworthy and ethical, with excellent communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining confidentiality. Good time management; detail-oriented, accurate and able to meet deadlines. Strong Christian faith and commitment to Church life. All work will be completed in-person at CUMC. Must have strong organizational, problem-solving and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Quickbooks, Zoom, etc) as well as proven knowledge of fundamental bookkeeping and accounting practices. Must have experience working with computerized accounting software. Knowledge of vendor management practices and human resources procedures is helpful. Experience with church management software (e.g. Subsplash) is also a plus. Knowledge of the United Methodist organization (polity) is helpful, but not necessary. Specific Duties
  • Primary contact with Church accounting firm, Church Bank Account and Credit Card.
  • Work with accounting firm to maintain employee records, generate timely and accurate payroll and initiate year-end tax reports
  • Perform all Accounts Payable duties (includes review of all invoices to be paid; prepare checks and have them signed; post transactions in financial database)
  • Work with Treasurer to prepare monthly financial statements for Administrative Board
  • Maintain giving records; create and send out quarterly and year-end contribution statements
  • Answer all inquiries requesting financial information
  • Assist counters as necessary
  • Assist Administrative Board and Church Treasurer in developing and monitoring the Annual Operating Budget
  • Complete necessary year-end reports and close books at end of fiscal year
  • Attend Weekly Staff Meeting
  • Prepare all bulletins and PowerPoint presentations for worship
  • Oversee Master Church Calendar (includes all scheduling)
  • Manage building usage requests and schedule building attendants or volunteers as needed
  • Submit invoices and track payment for events and building usage
  • Provide administrative support for Administrative Board as needed (including email reminders with Agendas/meeting packets)
  • Manage church database and official church records (digital and hard copy) - including membership, baptisms, births and deaths
  • Manage worship attendance records (on-line and in person) and document in church information database
  • Process all new hire information and maintain staff Personnel Records
  • Maintain administrative records (Administrative Board, Ministry Teams, insurance files, Endowment reports, etc.)
  • Monitor all incoming email and postal correspondence and distribute as appropriate to Senior Pastor, Staff, and/or church leadership
  • Answer phones when volunteer or building attendant are unavailable
  • Assure the church website is kept accurate and up to date
  • Manage Office (oversee volunteers, order supplies, etc)
  • Work with Trustees (as needed) to assist outside maintenance people with necessary access to building
  • Coordinate with Senior Pastor to assure timely submission of all necessary District and Conference reports (membership and finance)
  • Other duties as needed/assigned

$42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
