Job Description

Oak Ridge Military Academy (ORMA) is a small, college preparatory military boarding school for young men and women in grades 7-12. ORMA's students come from all over the country and world, and the mission of Oak Ridge Military Academy is to provide a diverse educational environment that encourages academic excellence, rewards self-discipline, and develops leadership potential. The structured military environment reinforces the mission and adds a transformative set of skills and values that can be applied throughout life.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
The duties and responsibilities of the STEAM teacher involve instruction directly related to STEAM and cybersecurity in our STEAM Lab. IT duties and responsibilities include maintaining the ORMA Network and devices. Related duties shall be those designated by the Academic Dean and ORMA President. ORMA employees understand their work requires an attitude of service and dedication to its students and the Academy in general, and sometimes requires flexible hours or additional duties outside of the normal workday. He or she should have a strong desire to contribute to school life beyond the classroom. Dorm parent/campus living opportunities may be available for interested candidates, although not required for employment. Instruction and Integration The STEAM teacher shall:
  • Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Aviation, and Math, using the FUSE curriculum and Virginia Standards of Learning.
  • Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, STEAM and online tools.
  • Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage STEAM and cybersecurity learning experiences. Leadership and Professional Growth The STEAM teacher shall:
  • Identify and apply educational and technology-related research, the psychology of learning, and instructional design principles in guiding use of technology in education.
  • Identify, implement, and investigate software in both classroom and administrative environments.
  • The STEAM teacher will identify resources, plan, and design staff development activities to support professional growth in learning technologies. IT Administrator The IT Administrator shall:
  • Plan and coordinate the design, installation, maintenance, and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of the Oak Ridge Military Academy's network IT assets.
  • Manage and maintain student Chromebook devices using Google Suite for Education platform.
  • Manage and maintain Office365 access and Outlook email systems.
  • Exhibit a proactive attitude toward avoiding, diagnosing, and solving potential network threats.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, IT-related certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with Ubiquiti networking software/hardware.
  • Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc).
  • Experience (or familiarity with) tools such as, but not limited to: 3D printing, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, etc.
  • Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills.

$34,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
