An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

你好! We are seeking the world's most amazing Elementary School Mandarin Chinese Teacher for the upcoming school year. At Butler Academy, or BA for short, we're committed to building something extraordinary, and we won't settle for anything less than the most talented, innovative, passionate, and committed educators we can find. Our goal is to engage teachers who are committed to closing the achievement gap by making BA a dynamic learning environment where every child is genuinely embraced and uplifted. Mandarin Chinese will be taught at all grade levels at BA. This position is for grades K
  • 5th. As an Academy, we will serve grades K
  • 10 for the 2026-27 school year, and add a grade each subsequent year until we are a full K
  • 12 school.
The successful Mandarin teacher at BA will lead our scholars to learn the language and culture through engaging activities, games, and crafts. We view learning a language as a social activity and want our scholars to see the power that communicating in another language gives them. Instruction will start in the lower grades with fun hands-on activities and lots of singing and playing in order to immerse our scholars into the Chinese culture and teach basic language components (greetings, family members, etc.) As we progress through the grades, we will move towards a rigorous language curriculum that emphasizes spoken language over written language and presents both traditional and simplified characters.

Analyze student achievement data with colleagues, instructional coaches, and leadership team members to strategically respond to the learning needs of your scholars. Use data to inform instructional development and delivery. Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in professional development and learning activities. Use feedback to make productive changes in performance. Be accountable for student mastery of academic standards. Participate in school activities and school-related community events throughout the year.
