MLL Identification, Assessment & Compliance Obtain required WIDA certifications and implementWIDA ELD
Standards with fidelity. Administer placement assessments to determine multilingual learner (MLL) eligibility. Use the ACCESS assessment results to determine English language proficiency growth. Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Determine appropriate MLL accommodations and support teachers in implementing them effectively. Ensure IEPs are implemented with fidelity and that progress toward goals is monitored and documented when applicable. Instructional Support & Service Delivery Plan and deliver targeted small-group and push-in instruction to accelerate English language development. Break learning into manageable steps and use evidence-based strategies, scaffolds, and accommodations to support diverse learners. Incorporate multisensory, hands-on, and language-rich activities to meet student needs. Differentiate instruction, materials, and pacing based on student readiness, assessment data, and IEP requirements. Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media aligned to student needs and abilities. Create a classroom environment that is positive, inclusive, and conducive to learning. Collaboration & Teacher Support Work with the district EL team to support multilingual learners and advance district EL mission and goals. Participate in required professional learning and planning sessions to maintain and enhance professional competence. Family & Community Engagement Communicate student progress to families through conferences, meetings, phone calls, and other appropriate methods. Support family engagement efforts connected to the summer program and school-wide MLL initiatives. Promote Capital's MLL services at school and district events. Student Support & Leadership Support students in developing study skills, goal setting, and academic success strategies. Reinforce school expectations and positive decision-making. Foster student leadership, responsibility, and interpersonal skills. Professional Responsibilities Prepare for assigned classes and provide written plans upon request. Encourage and maintain high standards of student behavior. Take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students, equipment, and facilities. Strive to uphold and model the district's mission through instruction and daily actions. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator, Principal, or District Leadership. Minimum Qualifications Delaware teaching certification (Bachelor's degree or higher). Experience tutoring or working with appropriate grade level. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and foster inclusive, engaging learning environments.
