JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Math Teacher, 6-12
REQUIREMENTS:
Certification from the Rhode Island Department of Education in a core subject in Mathematics or ability to obtain.. Ability to utilize various teaching techniques and methods to modify classroom instruction. Knowledge of various technology to individualize learning. Relevant work experience and effectiveness with a population that exhibits challenging behaviors. Physical ability to be trained in and use Crisis Intervention.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with special educators and other subject area teachers to provide appropriate instruction. Knowledge of State Standards. Familiar with IEP's/504 plans and implement accommodations accordingly Attend meetings to present student progress and needs. Collect data as needed to adjust instruction. Create and implement clear expectations and proficient classroom management skills for student with challenging behaviors. On-going communication with families to discuss student progress/needs. Provide support in the event of a safety-related incident including the use of appropriate physical intervention Provide support for students in completing class assignments and to achieve their goals. Perform duties as assigned by the the Director of Special Education and Building Principal.
