ORINDA, CA
Posted Aug 26, 2026 Job Title Associate Rector for Faith Formation Name of church or organization St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Job Location
ORINDA, CA
Job Description The primary focus of the position is faith formation - especially with children, youth, parents, and families - with shared responsibility for pastoral care, preaching, worship leadership, and the sacramental life of the parish. The Associate Rector will work closely with the Rector, staff, and lay leaders. Our children's ministry currently offers two Sunday school classrooms twice a month, using Whirl Lectionary and supported by dedicated volunteers, with a goal of growing toward weekly participation. St. Stephen's Preschool is located on our campus, and we are building stronger connections with preschool families. We have also begun a new ministry to parents. Youth ministry is an area needing renewed energy and leadership: we are looking for someone who can build relationships with young people and families, recruit volunteers, create service opportunities, and grow a sustainable youth ministry. We are also interested in developing a women's group and lay-led adult formation and fellowship ministries with clergy oversight. We are looking for a priest who is entrepreneurial and able to generate new ideas for ministries and programs, with experience building or rebuilding ministries. The right candidate is collaborative and comfortable working as part of a staff team; pastoral approachable, and genuinely interested in people; organized and able to follow through on projects; emotionally mature and able to receive feedback with grace.
