Job Description

Overview NC Pre-K Lead Teacher Growing Minds Early Learning Academy is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly qualified NC Pre-K Lead Teacher. The selected educator will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction that prepares children for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Starting at $45,000 per year ; additional compensation may be offered based on licensure, education, and verified teaching experience. Position Summary The NC Pre-K Lead Teacher plans, implements, and evaluates a high-quality early childhood program. This educator will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom while supporting each child's social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development. Education and Licensure Requirements Applicants must meet at least one of the following qualifications: Hold a current North Carolina Birth-Kindergarten Initial or Continuing Professional Educator License . Hold a North Carolina educator license with a Provisional B-K or Preschool Add-On License . Hold a current North Carolina Residency B-K License . Hold another qualifying North Carolina or out-of-state educator license and be eligible to complete B-K licensure requirements. Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and be eligible for a North Carolina Residency B-K License through an approved educator preparation program. Candidates pursuing licensure must maintain an official Plan of Study, enroll in an approved educator preparation program when required, and demonstrate satisfactory annual progress toward full B-K licensure. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Birth-Kindergarten Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field Previous experience teaching in an NC Pre-K or preschool classroom Knowledge of the North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development Experience implementing an approved early childhood curriculum Experience completing developmental screenings and formative assessments Understanding of inclusive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed teaching practices Strong classroom-management, communication, and organizational skills Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification Primary Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with NC Pre-K requirements. Create a safe, nurturing, welcoming, and inclusive classroom. Implement the Academy's approved curriculum with fidelity. Prepare lesson plans and maintain child portfolios. Complete required developmental screenings, assessments, progress reports, and documentation. Use assessment results to individualize instruction and support children's learning. Maintain active supervision and required teacher-to-child ratios. Guide and collaborate with the classroom teacher assistant. Establish positive and professional relationships with children and families. Conduct family conferences and communicate regularly about children's progress. Maintain accurate attendance, instructional, assessment, and compliance records. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, coaching, mentoring, and teacher evaluations. Collaborate with administrators, specialists, community partners, and other educators. Support each child's successful transition from NC Pre-K to kindergarten. Follow all NC Pre-K, DCDEE, health, safety, confidentiality, and childcare-licensing requirements. Employment Requirements The selected candidate must: Successfully complete all required criminal-background and qualification checks. Meet applicable state health and childcare requirements. Provide documentation of education, licensure, or licensure eligibility. Enroll with the DCDEE Early Educator Support Unit when required. Complete all required NC Pre-K professional development, mentoring, evaluation, and licensure activities.
