Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of students by stepping into an impactful role as a Reading Specialist working with elementary and K-8 learners in a vibrant school community. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity offers a rewarding chance to provide specialized reading instruction, supporting literacy growth and academic success. With two openings available, you'll have the flexibility and team support to share your expertise in a dynamic environment.
Key Qualifications:
Active PA certification/licensure, including reading specialist certification Demonstrated excellence in subject matter expertise, instructional strategies, and use of resource materials Prior school-based experience, with a strong background managing classrooms and student behavior Experience working successfully in urban school settings Commitment to completing all required PA clearances Reliable transportation to and from the worksite Ability to create engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans using formative assessment and differentiation High level of comfort with the district and willingness to immerse yourself in the local community Availability for a Zoom interview as part of the application process
Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted reading interventions and small-group instruction to elementary and K-8 students Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state and district standards Assess student progress using formative assessments, and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs Collaborate with educators and staff to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to student progress reviews This full-time assignment comprises 35 hours per week, beginning as soon as possible and extending through June 10, 2027.
