Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into an impactful full-time assignment as a Special Education Teacher, covering a maternity leave beginning October 1st through March 1st—with opportunity for extension. You'll work in vibrant educational settings, supporting both elementary and middle school students and making a genuine difference each day.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a closely related field Valid Connecticut Special Education teaching certification Previous experience with elementary and/or middle school students desirable Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills Effective classroom management and a student-centered approach
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide individualized instruction and academic support to students with diverse educational needs Share your expertise across elementary and middle school caseloads Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) Maintain accurate documentation and track student progress Offer differentiated instruction and accommodations tailored to each learner Work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and school staff Contribute to IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings This contract position offers a full-time schedule with defined dates—October 1st through March 1st—and the possibility to stay on beyond the initial assignment.
