Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing - Telehealth Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide specialized telehealth services to a 6th-grade student with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. This contract position involves delivering direct support to enhance the student's educational access and communication skills within an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) setting.
Responsibilities include:
Providing 30 minutes of targeted DHH services weekly, aligned with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Focusing instruction on self-advocacy to empower the student in managing hearing needs. Teaching communication breakdown and repair strategies to improve interaction with peers and educators. Assisting with the effective use of hearing accommodations and access to classroom materials. Collaborating remotely to address the unique needs presented by bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Supporting the student's use of Phonak hearing aids and spoken language to enhance learning outcomes.
Desired qualifications and experience:
Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Proven experience in telehealth service delivery within educational settings. Familiarity with working with students who have sensorineural hearing loss. Knowledge of hearing assistive technologies, particularly Phonak hearing aids. Strong skills in individualized instruction, communication strategies, and advocacy support for DHH students. Ability to effectively implement IEP goals in a remote or telehealth environment.
