Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting students with special needs in a dynamic educational environment. This 12-week contract position offers the chance to work full time with self-contained classrooms, focusing on students with Autism. Based near Waukegan, IL, the role requires an immediate start and offers consistent hours Monday through Friday, 8:20 AM to 3:10 PM.
Key Qualifications:
Illinois Special Education certification (required) Experience teaching or working in school settings highly preferred Understanding of and commitment to best practices in supporting students with Autism Strong collaborative and communication skills for working with colleagues and families Ability to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and adapt instruction as needed Dedication to fostering a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
Lead a self-contained classroom of approximately 8 to 15 students with Autism, addressing a range of learning and behavioral needs Develop and deliver tailored instructional activities aligned with students IEP goals Maintain up-to-date documentation on student progress and compliance with state, district, and federal requirements Participate in IEP meetings, planning, and progress reporting Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, related service providers, and families to support student success Manage classroom routines and positive behavior supports Ensure a physically and emotionally safe space for all students This is an on-site assignment, providing rewarding daily interactions and opportunities to enact positive change in students lives.
