9638435-48439 Job Description Make a meaningful impact in the lives of elementary students with complex learning and communication needs by taking on this full-time contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher. This position focuses on supporting students with cognitive impairments, with a strong emphasis on working with those on the autism spectrum. You'll collaborate with a dedicated team at a specialized educational center, providing vital academic, behavioral, and emotional support to students with significant self-regulation and mental health challenges.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Valid CI (Cognitive Impairment) teaching certification required Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) preferred Skilled in crisis management and de-escalation techniques Proficiency with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices and strategies strongly valued Background working with elementary-aged students facing complex communication and behavioral challenges Ability to excel in a collaborative, team-based environment
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs, focusing on cognitive impairment and autism support Implement evidence-based interventions for communication, behavior management, and self-regulation Employ AAC and other assistive technologies as appropriate Foster a safe, encouraging classroom atmosphere that promotes student growth and independence Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings to shape and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) Communicate regularly with families and team members regarding student progress and strategies This onsite role offers structured daytime hours, ideal for educators seeking a consistent weekday schedule.
