Job Description

Step into a dynamic educational environment where your expertise in special education can make a profound difference. This contract position focuses on supporting elementary students with cognitive impairments, utilizing an approach similar to ASD programs. You'll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to serve students with significant challenges in self-regulation, complex communication, and associated mental health needs.
Key Qualifications:
Valid CI (Cognitive Impairment) teaching certification required Demonstrated experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders Background in crisis management and intervention strategies highly preferred Proficiency or experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems Strong collaborative skills; comfortable working within a team-focused setting Dedication to fostering a supportive and structured learning environment for students with moderate to severe needs
Your Role Includes:
Providing direct instruction and individualized interventions geared toward elementary students with diverse cognitive and communication needs Implementing behavior support plans and leveraging crisis response strategies as needed Working hand-in-hand with specialists, therapists, and other educators to ensure consistent and effective support across all settings Utilizing AAC tools and communication supports to enhance student engagement and independence Participating in team meetings, IEP planning, and ongoing professional development to enhance service delivery Maintaining detailed records, progress data, and supportive communication with families This contract position is onsite, based at the Ed Tech Center. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 2:45 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
