Job Description

Make a meaningful difference supporting students by using your expertise in American Sign Language within the K-12 educational setting. Step into a contract role collaborating closely with students, teachers, and staff to bridge communication and foster inclusive learning. This assignment runs through the end of May 2027 and takes place entirely on-site, serving a varied student caseload.
What We're Looking For:
Valid certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (such as RID-NIC or
NAD IV/V
) OR a minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a passing EIPA written exam. Experience as an ASL Interpreter or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, preferably in a K-12 environment. Strong command of American Sign Language, with the ability to facilitate clear and accurate interpretation. Commitment to on-site, in-person support for students, with no remote or virtual work options. Collaborative spirit—a team player who communicates effectively with both students and staff.
Role Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation and language support in a classroom and school environment for students across grade levels. Facilitate communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and faculty, peers, and administrators. Support teachers in creating accessible, equitable educational experiences. Adhere to confidentiality requirements and professional ethical standards in all school settings. Participate in meetings, parent conferences, and school activities when interpretation services are needed.
