Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree (B.A.) is required. State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. Demonstrated experience working with pediatric populations, particularly in 1:1 or specialized roles. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive rapport with students, staff, and families. Adaptable, proactive, and resourceful with a patient, student-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct, individualized instruction to a visually impaired student in a long-term 1:1 setting. Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents to design and implement effective learning strategies. Adapt curriculum materials to support accessibility, ensuring that materials and activities are tailored to the student's needs. Monitor and document student progress, regularly evaluating and adjusting instruction plans as needed. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute insights to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment that nurtures student growth and independence.
