Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a significant impact as a Special Education Teacher, working with elementary students in an engaging and supportive environment. This contract position serves grades K-2 and focuses on a social/emotional caseload, with the rewarding opportunity to support students in a PreK-2 hybrid resource setting. In this role, you'll foster social and academic growth for young learners, some of whom will benefit from increased classroom time geared toward higher individual needs.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification Prior experience supporting K-2 students, especially within special education or social/emotional learning environments Familiarity with resource room and hybrid models of instruction Strong classroom management skills tailored to social/emotional and behavioral needs Adaptability in working with a diverse student population Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with staff and families
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small group instruction in a classroom dedicated to social/emotional development Create and implement effective behavioral and academic strategies for students with varying needs Serve as case manager, coordinating IEPs and monitoring student progress Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and related service providers Actively engage with families to establish supportive relationships and maintain transparent communication Pull higher need students back into the classroom as necessary to promote optimal learning and growth This engaging contract role offers the opportunity to create meaningful change in the lives of students who thrive with extra support.
