Special Education Teacher - Pawtucket, RI

Job Description

Take your passion and expertise in special education to make a meaningful impact with high school students facing Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or significant behavioral needs. This full-time contract opportunity starts immediately and lasts through June 18, 2027, offering you the chance to support and empower students in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom setting close to Pawtucket, RI.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education certification for secondary grade level Strong background working with high school students, particularly those with EBD or severe behavioral challenges Familiarity with self-contained or sub-separate classroom environments Certification in Rhode Island Structured Literacy (Right to Read Act), or willingness to complete proficiency within the first year Ability to develop individualized goals, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and provide a safe, supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction and behavioral support for students with EBD or similar challenges in a self-contained high school classroom Prepare and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborate closely with other special educators, therapists, related service providers, and families Assist with behavior intervention plans and use positive supports to help students succeed Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed Maintain comprehensive documentation and comply with all state and federal requirements Youll enjoy a structured schedule of 35 hours per week and the opportunity to develop deep, meaningful relationships with your students throughout the school year.
