Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate from high school or equivalent; 48 units of college level coursework; AA Degree or Certificate of Completion for NCLB requirements.
- Ability to read, write and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the assigned duties.
- Ability to communicate with and effectively supervise students.
- Ability to assist a diverse range of students in developing self-help and social skills.
- Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with others.
- Ability to understand and implement appropriate portions of the student's Individualized Transition Plan (ITP).
- Ability to use and identify indoor and outdoor recreational activities suitable for special needs students.
Brief Description of Position:
- Monitors practices and related activities under indirect supervision to assist in implementing, continuing or expanding practices to raise student achievement for individual or small groups of students with disabilities.
- Assists students preparing to enter the workforce such as identifying job opportunities and workability/job site programs, arranging job tours and schedules, and assisting with resume and job portfolio building and interview preparation.
- Assists students at the work site and in the classroom in learning and practicing independent living and self-help skills.
- Transports or accompanies small groups of students and instructs them in community settings under indirect supervision to assist students in demonstrating the character and competencies for workplace success: assists students with mobility needs.
- Maintains instructional materials and manual/electronic files/records to ensure availability of items, provide written reference, and/or meet mandated requirements
- Other related duties as assigned.
