Full Job Description Position Overview:
Holy Trinity Lutheran School seeks a compassionate and dedicated Early Childhood Teaching Assistant to join our team. The Teaching Assistant will support the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This individual will help foster students' social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in alignment with Holy Trinity's Christian values and mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that promote student engagement and development. Support students in small group activities, play-based learning, and individual tasks as needed. Provide supervision and ensure the safety of children during all classroom activities, outdoor play, and transitions. Help prepare materials and set up classrooms for daily instruction and special projects. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment. Assist with the implementation of behavioral and classroom management strategies. Collaborate with the lead teacher to monitor and document student progress and developmental milestones. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, contributing to the overall community at Holy Trinity. Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required. Adhere to all school policies, including confidentiality, health and safety regulations, and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred. Previous experience working with young children in a classroom, daycare, or preschool setting. Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education practices. Ability to communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents. A nurturing and patient demeanor, with a passion for working with young children. Flexibility and adaptability in meeting the needs of a dynamic classroom environment. Commitment to the values and mission of Holy Trinity Lutheran School. CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping required. Active participation in classroom activities, including physical play and outdoor supervision.
