MUST HAVE NYDMV MV-283 CERTIFICATION

The Driver Education Classroom Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Nassau County, NY. This educator plans and delivers engaging classroom instruction on defensive driving, traffic laws, vehicle operation, and road safety, aligned with New York State driver education standards and school guidelines. The teacher prepares lesson plans, assessments, and classroom materials; tracks student progress; and provides clear, timely feedback to support learner success. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate attendance and grading records, coordinating with behind-the-wheel instructors and school administrators, and ensuring all instructional content reflects current regulations and safe driving practices. The role also involves communicating regularly with families and students about course expectations, performance, and requirements for completion, while upholding a respectful, inclusive, and safety-focused classroom environment. Qualifications Demonstrated classroom teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom management, and effective assessment practices.

MUST HAVE NYDMV MV-283 CERTIFICATION

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to explain complex driving concepts clearly and to engage students with varied learning styles. Current or eligible New York State certification or approval to teach Driver Education, plus a valid driver's license with a strong personal driving record. Knowledge of New York State traffic laws, safe driving practices, road safety regulations, and current driver education standards. Ability to uphold an inclusive, student-centered learning environment that promotes safety, responsibility, and respect. Comfort using basic educational technology for presentations, course materials, and recordkeeping; familiarity with learning management systems is a plus. Experience teaching adolescents in a school or driver education setting is preferred; background in secondary education or related field is beneficial.
