$25-$40 per hour
Schedule:
Minimum 40 hours per week | Overtime available Position Summary Superior Electric Motor Service is an established, independent provider of electro-mechanical repair services, supporting a wide range of industrial customers. We are seeking an experienced Electric Motor Winder to perform disassembly, inspection, rewinding, and reassembly of industrial electric motors. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands winding fundamentals and can produce consistent, high-quality work in a fast-paced shop environment. Key Responsibilities Perform complete teardown and inspection of electric motors (AC & DC) Remove existing windings using proper burnout and stripping methods Record winding data (turn count, wire size, coil pitch, connections) Rewind stators and armatures to OEM or engineered specifications Form, insert, and tie coils (random wound and form wound as applicable) Perform insulation processes including: Slot insulation Phase insulation Varnishing / dipping Baking cycles Reconnect leads and ensure proper phasing and configuration Assist with rotor/armature inspection and basic testing Conduct electrical testing such as megger (IR testing) and surge comparison (if applicable) Work closely with mechanics during reassembly and final testing Maintain a clean and organized work area Follow shop safety procedures and standards Required Experience 2+ years of experience winding industrial electric motors (or equivalent hands-on training) Experience with random wound stators (low voltage motors) Ability to read, document, and replicate winding data Familiarity with insulation systems and materials Experience using common shop equipment (burnout ovens, coil winders, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience with DC armatures Knowledge of EASA standards and best practices Ability to troubleshoot winding failures (shorts, grounds, phase imbalance) Experience with surge testing equipment Ability to work from sketches, winding diagrams, or reverse engineer coils
