13 Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Emergency Room Nurse to join our fast-paced, high-energy healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide immediate, expert nursing care to patients experiencing urgent and emergent health issues. Your expertise will help stabilize patients, coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure a positive patient experience in a critical environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in lives during their most vulnerable moments while working within a supportive and innovative healthcare setting. Responsibilities Perform rapid patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to determine urgency and prioritize care. Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform suturing with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques. Manage airway maintenance, ventilator support, and acute pain management for critically ill or injured patients. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in trauma medicine, infectious disease care, cardiology, ophthalmology, and other disciplines to develop and implement treatment plans. Document all patient interactions thoroughly using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist in procedures like catheterization, tube feeding management, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and wound care including ostomy care. Lead triage efforts to evaluate incoming patients efficiently while working with individuals with disabilities or complex needs such as memory care or behavioral health issues. Provide education on health coaching topics including medication administration, discharge planning, nutrition, and post-acute care instructions. Support infection control protocols and maintain sterile processing standards during all procedures. Respond swiftly to emergencies using basic life support (BLS) skills; manage airway emergencies and ventilator support as needed. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration; experience in emergency room settings is highly preferred. Proven critical care experience including ICU or Level I/II trauma center exposure; familiarity with trauma medicine is essential. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with
ICD-9/10
coding and medical documentation is advantageous. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to emergency medicine. Skilled in performing procedures like IV insertion, venipuncture, suturing, catheterization, and aseptic techniques. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics (including dementia and Alzheimer's care), neonatal ventilator management, and patients with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs. Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or hospital emergency departments. Excellent communication skills for patient assessment, education delivery, case management coordination, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
