An Aerospace Engineer designs aircraft, missiles, and spacecraft using knowledge of engineering and physics, and tests prototypes to see if they work according to design. May specialize in aeronautical design and work with airplanes and helicopters, or specialize in astronautical design and work with vehicles used in outer space. May specialize in a particular area of design, such as aerodynamic flow or navigation.
We are seeking a highly skilled Textile Production Engineer to optimize our manufacturing processes for life-saving parachutes and high-performance tactical gear. In this role, you will bridge the gap between product design and industrial output. You will be directly responsible for building accurate documentation, designing specialized manufacturing workflows, engineering custom production tooling, and programming automated sewing machinery. Your technical expertise will ensure our products meet strict military, aerospace, and safety standards.
Core Responsibilities Construct BOMs:
Build, update, and maintain detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for multi-component tactical gear and parachute assemblies. Understand contract requirements, specifications, and engineering change orders.
Costing & Consumption:
Calculate precise fabric yield, thread consumption, and hardware requirements to minimize scrap and optimize production costs.
Patterns:
Create patterns with prototyper in CAD files to be cut via various methods.
Create Workflows:
Develop step-by-step manufacturing routing sheets, operations sequences, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in
JOBBOSS ERP.
Line Balancing:
Analyze cycle times and design efficient cell layouts to eliminate bottlenecks in heavy-duty sewing lines.
Time Studies:
Conduct time and motion studies to establish accurate labor standards and production capacity metrics.
Tooling:
Conceptualize, engineer, and create custom sewing jigs, binders, folders, and alignment fixtures to improve operator accuracy and speed. Work with outside vendors to create folders and other specialty aids.
Program Machinery:
Write sewing programs for programmable pattern-sewers, bar-tackers, and automated CNC cutting tables.
Programmable Tooling:
Write sewing programs for programmable pattern-sewers, bar-tackers, and automated CNC cutting tables.
Sewing Tooling Templates:
Design and create multilayer plastic and metal sewing tooling for single and multi-needle machines.
PIA & Mil-Spec Standards:
Ensure all workflows and sewing programs strictly adhere to military specifications (PIA & Mil-Spec), FAA regulations, or
ISO 9001/AS9100
quality standards.
Root Cause Analysis:
Partner with Quality Assurance to investigate sewing failures, seam slippage, or material defects, implementing rapid engineering fixes.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a highly related technical field.
Experience:
3-5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in heavy-duty textile manufacturing (tactical gear, aerospace, parachutes, or safety harnesses preferred). 5+ years of engineering experience.
Software Proficiency:
Advanced knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Draftsite) Direct experience with programmable sewing software (e.g., Brother, Juki, or Mitsubishi pattern creation suites). Robust experience navigating ERP/MRP systems for BOM and travelers. (JOBBOSS preferred)
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of stitch types (Class 300 lockstitch, Class 400 chainstitch, bar-tacks), seam types according to federal standards, production equipment, production methods, and aerospace fabrics. Expert-level knowledge in (GD&T) Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and aerospace blue-print reaching Must have experience using magnifying devices, test equipment, and precision measuring instruments to verify tooling and production items. Shall be familiar with AIS9100 or similar Quality System. Military/Aerospace regulations familiarity is highly desired. Ability to perform First Articles, First Piece, Floor, Receiving, Final and Outside Process Inspection to verify patterns and tooling.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities, high attention to precision, and strong cross-functional communication skills to train floor operators on new workflow

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment for this job is in an office and can require you to go into the manufacturing shop floor, which is heated and air-conditioned. The noise level is usually high due to industrial machines. This position requires frequent walking, frequent standing, frequent lifting, frequent typing, frequent use of a computer screen, as well as sitting at a desk.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires that the employee be regularly required to stand, move, talk, see, and hear. The employee is regularly required to life, stand; walk; reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.
