In particular, the candidate will explore how endogenous cannabinoid modulation of mesolimbic substrates contributes to seeking of natural and drug reinforcers, and how this system might be targeted for therapeutic gain. We are looking for a highly dedicated individual who completed a Ph.D. in neuroscience, physics, mathematics or computer science to merge cell-type specific modulation of decision-making processes (e.g., sophisticated operant behavior, drug self-administration, unsupervised machine learning) with circuit level analyses (e.g., optogenetics, mini-endoscopes, fiber photometry, multiple single-unit electrophysiology and multiphoton imaging). We offer an incredible training environment with active and supportive mentorship, a Department and School full of high-caliber Core facilities and collaborators, as well as formalized administrative support and career development resources for Postdoctoral Fellows. Requirements Experience in stereotaxic surgery and mouse behavior are essential. Also required is an invested interest in systems neuroscience research. Experience with any of the following is also highly desirable: viral vectors, cell culture, pharmacology, electronics, optical approaches, and MatLab® and/or Python programming.
