• . The ideal candidate will have geotechnical investigation, design, and construction observation experience for large site development projects (such as data centers) and/or coastal/waterfront structures. Key areas of expertise should include earthworks, foundations, geotextiles, erosion mitigation, slope stability, and geotechnical instrumentation.
• The Opportunity
• + Planning and executing subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.

+ Performing geotechnical design and analysis for foundations, embankments, retaining walls, excavations, pavements, earthworks, slope stabilization, and underground structures. + Interacting with civil and structural engineers to collaborate in the design of foundations, utilities, pavements, and civil structures. + Evaluating and assessing data from field instrumentation (settlement, ground movement around excavations and load tests of piles and anchors) to calibrate predicted performance with actual performance. + Leading the geotechnical design and construction administration for site development projects, including data centers, and/or waterfront structures. + Assisting and eventually leading business development activities + Occasional travel as required for site visits At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective

• Is this role right for you?
• + Master's Degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering + PE Required.

PE and GE in California preferred + Minimum 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice with emphasis on site development and/or heavy civil structures. + Proven experience in geotechnical project planning, analyses, design, construction observation, and preparation of deliverables + Working knowledge of seismic analysis and codes + Familiarity with soil hazards in a variety of soil conditions + Experience with finite element software for static and seismic soil-structure interaction is preferred using software such as PLAXIS, FLAC, and/or LS-DYNA

• San Francisco Hiring Range
• Hiring Range
• The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in San Francisco is $140,000 to $160,000 per year.
• This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level.
• Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of San Francisco will differ.
