Plant Manager / Director of Operations Position Overview We are seeking a high-energy, hands-on Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead our site engineering, facility maintenance, and capital project operations. This critical leadership role drives operational excellence by maximizing equipment reliability, managing complex capital projects (CAPEX), and supporting aggressive plant scaling initiatives. The ideal candidate balances daily technical troubleshooting with strategic, long-term asset management—all while enforcing top-tier safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Talent Development Direct and mentor cross-functional teams spanning plant engineering, facility upkeep, and daily maintenance technicians. Manage workforce lifecycles including recruitment, onboarding, goal-setting, performance evaluations, and active skills development. Cultivate a culture centered on safety awareness, accountability, professional curiosity, and collaborative continuous improvement. 2. Capital Project Management (CAPEX) Own the lifecycle of capital expenditure initiatives from initial scope definitions and budgeting through engineering design to execution. Deliver projects on time and within target financial parameters, accurately projecting resources and cross-departmental requirements. Source and manage external specialist contractors, OEMs, and third-party utility vendors safely. 3. Reliability & Maintenance Optimization Standardize preventive maintenance (PPM) and predictive frameworks to target zero unplanned operational downtime. Govern data systems including Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), work order queues, and dynamic spare parts inventories. Deploy technical troubleshooting methods, using root-cause analysis (RCA) to resolve repeat machinery failures. 4. Equipment Lifecycle & Commissioning Lead hardware startups , overseeing testing, mechanical installations, and facility expansions. Execute qualifications including formal Installation Qualification and Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) protocols. Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to seamlessly integrate advanced tooling and engineering modifications. 5. Financial Management & Compliance Formulate annual budgets for maintenance operations, facility repairs, and regional engineering resources. Audit compliance metrics to guarantee strict alignment with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), local food safety guidelines, ISO frameworks, and environmental regulations. Position Requirements (Must Haves)
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
Professional Experience:
7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Leadership Experience:
5+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance or engineering teams.
Strong, working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
Availability:
Ability to work a flexible schedule and provide occasional on-call support to meet operational needs.
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
$131,000 - $160,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
