POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Supplier Quality Engineer at Republic Manufacturing, you will play a pivotal role in managing quality across the full supply chain; from incoming materials through outbound finished goods. Your primary focus is building and maintaining quality systems that connect internal operations with our supplier base, ensuring that materials, components, and products consistently meet Republic's standards and customer requirements. This role has broad cross-functional impact, working closely with procurement, engineering, operations, and sales to drive quality at every stage. This role reports to the VP of Product and works in close coordination with engineering, procurement, and operations leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Day-to-day functions): Develop and maintain receiving inspection plans for inbound materials and purchased components, ensuring conformance to drawings, specifications, and acceptance criteria Build and maintain outbound quality plans, ensuring finished products meet customer and contractual requirements prior to shipment Develop in-process quality plans in collaboration with operations and engineering, including control plans, inspection checkpoints, and acceptance criteria Manage RMA intake and assessment process, coordinating with engineering and operations to disposition returned goods and communicate findings to customers Conduct supplier visits and on-site assessments to evaluate quality systems, processes, and compliance with Republic's requirements; drive corrective action and supplier development as needed Review non-conformances and defect trends across incoming, in-process, and outbound inspection points; lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) Develop and manage supplier scorecards and performance metrics; lead supplier qualification, re-qualification, and performance review activities Participate in new product development projects, assisting with supplier qualification, prototype validation, and quality deliverables for production readiness Work with engineering to improve product and process specifications to reduce variation, prevent quality escapes, and minimize cost of poor quality Support ISO and QMS audit activities, including internal audits, supplier audits, and customer quality reviews Lead or participate in cross-functional quality improvement teams and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain accurate quality records, inspection data, and supplier documentation within the QMS Maintain awareness of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in supplier and manufacturing quality Develop and communicate Republic's supplier quality requirements and assist suppliers with quality improvement plans Cultivate a positive, collaborative work environment aligned with Republic's values and culture. Develop and maintain strong working relationships across engineering, procurement, operations, and sales
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in,Engineering, Quality, or related field. More than 3 years of experience in a supplier quality or quality engineering role in a manufacturing environment. Experience developing receiving inspection plans, control plans, and supplier quality documentation for industrial mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and multiple concurrent quality projects simultaneously Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, etc.) and quality tools(FMEA, SPC, Six Sigma, etc.). Proven experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action methodologies. Proficiency in basic statistical analysis, including very strong Excel skills Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Ability to deliver presentations and training to diverse audiences. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking and prioritizing. Proven experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Certification such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) More than 5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering or a related manufacturing quality role. Analytical proficiency in data analysis tools and quality data software (Minitab, JMP, etc.). Experience with cost-of-quality reporting, including scrap, spoilage, yield rates, and supplier-attributable defect costs. Experience with supplier audits, supplier development programs, and formal corrective action processes (8D, CAPA). Experience developing receiving inspection, in-process, and outbound quality plans.
