WHO WE ARE
Drape Art Designs is a woman owned event decor company located in Rhode Island, specializing in custom drapery and lighting installations. We are a team of passionate creatives and craftspeople, driven by a shared love for design and events. We travel to beautiful venues and private residences throughout New England to install large-scale private and corporate events.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking creative individuals with a passion for design and event production. Previous experience or skill in areas of event production, warehouse management, carpentry, electrical, fabric, and sewing are all appreciated. However, we welcome individuals with many different skill sets and a willingness to learn! A love for outdoors and hands on work is also a plus!
Please note:
This position is "seasonal" (June-January), with the opportunity for year round employment. Weekend and evening availability is required.
ABOUT THE POSITION
As a Drape Technician, you will be responsible for the production of soft goods for event decoration, and assist with on-site installations. Fabric knowledge and sewing skills are a plus, but not required! Training will be provided for applicants interested in learning to sew. Drape Art Designs is a collaborative workplace, employees are expected and required to assist others, regardless of their position. Position Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Follow written and verbal instructions for creating high quality soft goods.
  • Operating straight stitcher and serger.
  • Perform pre/post-stitching tasks including precise measuring, cutting, fusible interface application, pinning, pleating, threading machines, seam ripping, ironing, steaming, sorting, and folding, as well as repairs and alterations on existing goods.
  • Add trim, bias tapes, fringe, and other accessories.
  • Use a variety of tools and hardware to install fabric in tents or indoor venues.
  • Organizing/sorting fabric inventory, separating drapery to be laundered.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work space.
  • On-site installation of various drapery and lighting items.
Required Qualifications:
  • Positive attitude and team player, willing to accept constructive feedback.
  • Weekend and Evening availability is a must!
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, climb, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Valid Drivers License, reliable transportation, and clean driving record.
  • Comfortable doing minute, repetitive tasks.
  • STRONG attention to detail
  • Creative and critical thinker.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience on industrial stitcher/serger preferred
  • Willing to train others who have demonstrated other artistic talents
