Position Overview:
GPT Renewables is seeking a skilled Welder Technicians to perform various welding operations at customer sites inside and outside of power plants and have broad knowledge and experience of welding methods. Technicians must be able to perform all welding operations on mechanical and turbine parts as required, and be certified per GE to SMAW and GTAW processes. This role requires the ability to develop and work from complicated prints and sketches, and to be proficient with the use of base metals, filler metals, and alloy selection while exercising thermal control of various materials and processes. The technician must be able to perform informational red dye NDE inspection, diagnose and correct mechanical trouble on welding equipment, and work with minimal supervision.
Pay Rate:
$35.00-$42.00 HR (Depends on Experience) Per Diem available daily
Multiple Locations:
(OH, SC, TX)
Responsibilities:
Perform welding operations on mechanical and turbine parts at customer sites, both inside and outside of power plants. Maintain certification per GE to SMAW and GTAW welding processes. Develop and work from complicated prints and sketches. Demonstrate proficiency with base metals, filler metals, and alloy selection while exercising thermal control across various materials and processes. Perform informational red dye NDE inspection. Diagnose and correct mechanical trouble on welding equipment. Accept all domestic and international assignments, including nuclear plant work. Use computers and software applications proficiently for documentation and field reporting. Demonstrate strong Environmental, Health & Safety values; actively participate in all EHS programs and serve as a champion of Stop Work Authority. Work with minimal supervision while maintaining quality, safety, and schedule expectations.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of experience working on steam turbine generators in power plants, and/or demonstrated capability to weld in accordance with ASME requirements on stainless steel and low carbon steels at a minimum. Certifications, or ability to obtain certifications, in FCAW, SAW, and mechanized welding processes All-position welding certification, or ability to achieve certification, in SMAW (7018, 9016, Inco 182) and GTAW (410, Inco 82) High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years of classroom or on-the-job welder experience. Valid driver's license. Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts. Ability and willingness to climb ladders and stairs as required. Ability to interpret technical instructions. Ability to travel (100%) nationwide based on project assignments Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in field environments Must be at least 18 years of age Ability to pass a drug test and background check to gain unescorted nuclear site access.
