Job Title:
Power Systems EngineerJob Description We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with robust experience in medium-voltage power systems to support the design and development of complex power generation, distribution, and protection systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for system-level design decisions, integrating multiple electrical components and subsystems, and ensuring compliance with safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements. A thorough understanding of medium-voltage equipment as a complete system is essential, along with the ability to evaluate electrical architectures beyond individual circuit designs. Responsibilities + Develop system-level electrical architectures for medium-voltage power systems. + Design and integrate power distribution, protection, switchgear, transformer, and control system solutions. + Evaluate interactions of electrical components, protective devices, and subsystems within larger power systems. + Support medium-voltage product development from concept through validation and release. + Perform electrical system studies including short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis. + Ensure designs comply with safety, regulatory, and industry standards. + Select and size major electrical components balancing performance, safety, reliability, and cost. + Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to address complex power system challenges. + Support testing, validation, and implementation of new electrical system designs. Essential Skills + Experience in medium-voltage systems-level design. + Proficiency in electrical systems design, particularly for medium-voltage applications. + Strong understanding of electrical distribution, protection, and power system architecture. + Knowledge of medium-voltage safety, compliance requirements, and industry standards. + Experience in evaluating protection schemes and electrical system performance. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. + Experience designing medium-voltage electrical systems (11,000 volts or higher). + Capability to understand and integrate multiple electrical systems and components in a complete solution. Work Environment This role involves working with cutting-edge technologies in power generation and distribution. The work environment will require collaboration with cross-functional teams to address complex challenges, focusing on the development of solutions for demanding applications such as data centers. The position does not involve primary circuit design but requires a deep understanding of system-level design and integration. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
