Experienced HVAC Commercial Service Technician

Responsibilities Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of commercial HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems, and related mechanical equipment. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and HVAC design documents to accurately identify issues and implement solutions. Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC/R equipment to maximize efficiency and lifespan. Install, modify, and service HVAC components such as ductwork, piping (including plumbing), compressors, condensers, and control systems. Utilize tools such as ohmmeters and welding equipment to repair electrical circuits and mechanical parts. Diagnose complex issues involving ammonia refrigeration systems and other specialty refrigerants with safety and precision. Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for each job performed; communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs and system status. Ensure compliance with safety standards and local codes during all service activities; operate company vehicles responsibly as a driver when required. Skills Extensive experience in construction environments with a strong foundation in mechanical systems installation and maintenance. Proven track record as a service technician with expertise in HVAC/R systems repair and troubleshooting. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents accurately. Knowledge of plumbing systems related to HVAC applications; experience with appliance repair is a plus. Familiarity with refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration; understanding of HVAC design principles is highly desirable. Mechanical knowledge encompassing equipment repair, welding techniques, boiler operation, and property maintenance tasks. Field service experience demonstrating the ability to work independently in diverse commercial settings while maintaining high-quality standards. Competence in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters; experience with equipment repair is essential. Strong mechanical aptitude combined with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to interpret technical data swiftly.
