Role Description The Accounts Payable Accountant is a full-time, on-site position based in Brattleboro, VT. This role is responsible for processing vendor invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely payments, and maintaining up-to-date accounts payable records. Daily tasks include matching purchase orders to invoices, reconciling vendor statements, responding to vendor and internal inquiries, and preparing electronic and check payments. The role also involves assisting with month-end close activities, supporting audits and financial reporting, and collaborating with other members of the Business Office to improve processes and maintain strong internal controls. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in Finance and Accounting, with a solid understanding of basic financial principles and bookkeeping practices. Candidates should possess skills in Account Reconciliation, including reviewing and balancing accounts payable ledgers and resolving discrepancies. Candidates should possess skills in Invoice Processing and Invoicing, including coding, data entry, and verifying approval and documentation. Relevant qualifications include prior experience in accounts payable or general accounting, proficiency with accounting software and Excel, and strong attention to detail and accuracy. Additional beneficial qualifications include effective communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a school environment, strong organizational and time management skills, and an associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
