Position Summary Durable Surfaces is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a national construction services company operating across the 48 contiguous United States. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Senior Accountant/Controller, assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, reconciliations, and financial reporting support for complex construction projects. This role is well suited to a candidate who is organized, dependable, comfortable working with detailed financial information, and interested in developing their knowledge of construction accounting. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable
- Assist with accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, vendor questions, and payment support.
- Assist with employee expense reports and company credit card transaction review, coding and reconciliation
- Maintain vendor records, including W-9s, certificates of insurance and other required documentation. Accounts Receivable
- Assist with accounts receivable, customer billing, cash application, collections, and account research.
- Maintain customer records Payroll Support
- Review weekly payroll timecards for accuracy and assist with processing weekly payroll. Project & Job Cost Accounting
- Review job-cost transactions for accurate job, cost code, department, and general ledger coding.
- Assist with preparation and distribution of job-cost reports and research discrepancies as needed.
- Work with project managers and operations to resolve billing and job-cost questions. Reconciliations & Journal Entries
- Prepare bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules as assigned.
- Assist with researching and correcting discrepancies, coding errors and outstanding balances. Month-End & Year-End Close Support
- Learn and follow established accounting procedures and internal controls, identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Support the preparation and organization of documentation for month-end and year-end close and financial reporting, including maintaining accurate accounting records. Audit & Compliance Support
- Assist with audit, tax, insurance, and other accounting or compliance requests. Process Improvement & Special Projects
- Support accounting automation, reporting, and process-improvement initiatives.
- Assist with financial analysis and special projects as requested.
- Provide backup support across accounting functions and perform other accounting duties as needed. Qualifications Required
- 1-3 years of accounting experience.
- Basic understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to learn new accounting and reporting systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with accounting, operations, project management, and leadership. Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Construction accounting experience.
- Experience with Foundation or other construction accounting software. Key Skills

Pay:
$65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
