Job Description

The Fleet & Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the safety and fleet programs for all Company Drivers and Owner Operators operating under Lineage Foodservices and Lineage Transportation authority. This role will manage all aspects of regulatory compliance, including Hours of Service (HOS) through XRS, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), driver incidents, DOT compliance, and Driver Qualification (D&Q) files. The position will also support the hiring of new drivers, online safety training programs, and onsite driver engagement meetings. This Manager is accountable to ensure the fleet operates in full compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. The fleet consists of approximately 2,500 refrigerated trailers/chassis and 625 tractors. This role will primarily support the Great Lakes region, while also being expected to provide assistance to other regions as needed. The position requires consistent use of electronic logging systems and Samsara dash cam technology to monitor and enforce Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and safe driving behaviors across all drivers. Performance will be measured through ongoing monitoring of Safety Measurement System (SMS) scores tied to the company's Motor Carrier number, as well as overall safety performance and compliance metrics. The Manager will also be responsible for overseeing maintenance standards and managing equipment-related costs across the fleet. In addition, this role will regularly collaborate with Insurance and Finance teams to support and enhance the company's safety programs and risk management efforts. The ideal location for this position is within the Great Lakes region.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate the DOT Compliance and Driver safety programs for existing and new company drivers and Owner Operators. Maintaining online safety program is current. Knowledge of Penske Insights Maintenance Program, ensure to meet FHWA inspections, BIT Inspections (CA) and compliant with PMs at all times. Ensure all truck documents are current and up to date. All Overweight permits are current. Utilize RAIR Safety & Compliance Module, Samsara dash cam, as well as Solar HOS e-log system to monitor and track driver compliance. Maintain constant communication with operations; solutions based "can do" attitudes and consummate professionalism throughout the transportation lifecycle. Follow existing processes and procedures to ensure daily execution of transportation policies, operating standards, and service level agreements. Direct oversight of auditing, reporting, safety inspections, administering safety policies and procedures, and implementing safety training programs in compliance with local, state, and federal. Ability to create SOP's, policies, etc. for the Fleet & Safety Department. Work with Corporate and local management on accident/incident investigations and reports of employee injuries and vehicular incidents. Leads the investigation of accidents, injuries, and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations, compiles, and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies, maintains safety files and records. Support the development of safety programs for all yard switchers and train drivers on the proper use of equipment, with a strong focus on safe operation. Review and assist with the full asset list of all company vehicles, including those outside of heavy-duty equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Fleet Safety (or equivalent experience) High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years in a leadership role (managing drivers, supervisors, or safety programs) 5+ years of experience in fleet safety, DOT compliance, or transportation operations Experience preparing for and supporting DOT audits and compliance reviews Experience working cross-functionally (Operations, Maintenance, HR, Risk Management) Strong communication skills with both drivers and senior leadership 20% Travel Why Lineage?
