Position Summary Radtke Contractors is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the Company and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accounting records, supervising accounting personnel, ensuring the timely close of the books, and supporting the operational and financial goals of the business. The Accounting Manager will work closely with Company ownership, the Director of Marine Operations, the Director of Bridge Operations, and Coveted Financial Services, which serves as the Company's fractional CFO. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing both accounting operations and staff while ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered on time. Key Responsibilities Financial Close & Reporting Ensure financial information is recorded accurately and timely. Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, payroll entries, and other recurring accounting transactions. Review financial activity for completeness and accuracy prior to closing each accounting period. Work closely with the Director of Marine Operations and Director of Bridge Operations to gather project and operational information necessary to ensure financial results are properly reflected. Coordinate monthly close deadlines with internal accounting staff, fractional CFO, and operational leaders to ensure timely reporting. Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for review by ownership and the fractional CFO team. Maintain account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Assist with audit, tax, insurance, and other financial reporting requests. Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and supported by appropriate documentation. Accounting Operations Oversee Accounts Receivable processes, including invoicing, collections, deposits, and customer account maintenance. Manage Accounts Payable functions, including vendor bill entry, payment processing, and check preparation. Maintain bank and cash accounts, including monthly reconciliations and account analysis. Enter, review, and reconcile credit card transactions and supporting documentation. Record payroll-related journal entries. Maintain fixed asset schedules, prepaid expense schedules, and accrued liability schedules. Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and properly documented. Job Costing & Construction Accounting Perform job costing and ensure expenses are accurately allocated and reported. Maintain accurate project accounting records. Work with operational leadership to ensure labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs are properly recorded. Assist in gathering and validating information used in project profitability reporting. Help ensure financial information accurately reflects project performance and activity. Leadership & Team Management Directly supervise and develop a minimum of two team members. Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance support to staff. Assign workloads and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met. Establish accountability around reconciliations, close activities, documentation, and reporting requirements. Assist with the hiring, onboarding, and development of future accounting personnel as needed. Process Improvement & Internal Controls
- Ensure accounting processes are consistently followed and properly documented.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and communicate recommendations to management and the fractional CFO team.
- Establish accountability around reconciliations, documentation, and monthly close deadlines.
- Partner with operational leadership to ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and submitted timely for monthly reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within accounting operations. Support implementation of accounting best practices and reporting enhancements. Compliance & Accounting Standards Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in daily accounting operations. Ensure compliance with Company accounting policies and procedures. Maintain adequate supporting documentation for audits, tax preparation, lender reporting, and insurance requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting. Working knowledge of GAAP principles preferred. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Construction accounting and job costing experience preferred. Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, and month-end close procedures. Experience managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll accounting, and general ledger activities. Ability to analyze financial information and identify discrepancies requiring investigation and resolution. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis. Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred. An Associate degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or a related field combined with significant relevant accounting experience will also be considered. Equivalent combinations of education and progressively responsible accounting experience may be considered. Experience Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Experience managing month-end close processes. Experience with financial statement preparation and account reconciliations. Prior supervisory or management experience preferred. Construction industry experience preferred. Experience with Sage or similar accounting software preferred. Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screen
Pay:
$74,000.00 - $81,000.00 per year
