Job Description

We are partnering with a well-established Greenville-based organization seeking an HR Specialist (Benefits & Payroll) to join its HR team. This position will lead multi-state payroll processing and support the administration of employee benefits programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience. The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll expertise, advanced Excel skills, and experience working within HRIS platforms in a fast-paced environment. This is an onsite role in Greenville, SC. Essential Duties & Functions Process end-to-end multi-state payroll accurately and confidentially, including regular and off-cycle payrolls, wage adjustments, garnishments, tax withholdings, severance payments, and benefit deductions. Maintain and audit time and attendance records within the HRIS system (UKG preferred). Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, payroll-related journal entries, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including year-end processing and W-2 administration. Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA/HSA, dependent care, and 401(k) plans. Manage benefit enrollments, offboarding processes, COBRA administration, ACA reporting, and annual open enrollment. Administer FMLA, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability programs in compliance with applicable regulations. Serve as a primary resource for employee payroll and benefits inquiries while delivering excellent customer service. Coordinate with benefits vendors, brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate administration and compliance. Prepare payroll and benefits reports, reconciliations, and support internal, external, financial, and 401(k) audits. Identify and implement process improvements, support HRIS enhancements, and maintain strict confidentiality of employee information. Support employee wellness initiatives and perform additional payroll, benefits, and HR-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred. 3+ years of payroll processing experience, including multi-state payroll administration. Experience administering employee benefits programs and supporting benefits compliance. Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, ACA requirements, and HR compliance. Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, reconciliations, pivot tables, and lookup functions. Experience with HRIS/payroll systems Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred. Experience with payroll audits, general ledger reconciliations, 401(k) administration, and ACA reporting preferred. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, organizational abilities, and customer service orientation.
