$135,000 - $165,000 base salary + bonus opportunity About the Opportunity A growing logistics and global forwarding organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and finance function for its Global Forwarding business segment. This is a highly visible leadership role that partners closely with executive leadership and plays a critical role in supporting continued growth through both organic expansion and acquisitions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and experience operating within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. This position offers the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, strengthen financial operations, and support future business integration initiatives. What You'll Do Lead all accounting and finance operations for the Global Forwarding business segment, including accounts payable, payroll, employee benefits, treasury management, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close activities. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance with GAAP. Oversee duty outlay transactions with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and associated fee management. Review profitability reporting, monitor aged work-in-progress (WIP) balances, and manage accruals. Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and executive-level business reviews, including commentary on key financial results and trends. Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes and perform ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions. Lead finance and accounting integration efforts related to acquisitions, including systems, processes, controls, and policy alignment. Monitor accounts payable processes and payment controls while driving process improvements and automation initiatives. Collaborate with operations, sales, and executive leadership to develop actionable financial metrics and reporting tools. Analyze key performance indicators including gross profit, working capital, DSO, DPO, cash flow, and return on investment. Oversee commission calculations and ensure timely, accurate processing in coordination with payroll deadlines. Lead annual financial statement audits, lender reporting requirements, and borrowing base audits. Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce risk. Manage weekly cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning. Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence. Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed. Qualifications Required Active CPA designation. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role with full-cycle accounting responsibility. Public accounting background. Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Experience managing monthly close, audits, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated success partnering with senior executives and business leaders. Experience assessing and strengthening internal controls. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Experience within freight forwarding, transportation, logistics, supply chain, or related industries. Experience in private equity-backed or publicly traded organizations. Experience supporting acquisitions and post-acquisition integrations. Exposure to systems such as CargoWise, Sage Intacct, Concur, or similar platforms.

Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:

$135,000 - $165,000 annually In addition to base compensation, this position is eligible for a performance-based bonus. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, certifications, and overall alignment with the role.
