Job Description
We are looking for an Assistant Controller to oversee accounting and financial activities for a manufacturing plant in Ohio. This role is ideal for a finance specialist who enjoys working closely with operations, translating plant performance into meaningful financial insights, and strengthening decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis. The position offers the opportunity to contribute across close processes, cost analysis, budgeting, and financial controls while partnering with leadership to support profitability and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the accounting function for an assigned manufacturing facility, ensuring accurate reporting and reliable financial oversight.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Produce plant-level financial statements and investigate account activity to maintain accuracy across the general ledger.
- Evaluate inventory, labor, overhead, scrap, and standard cost performance to identify trends and explain manufacturing variances.
- Work closely with plant leadership to interpret financial results and highlight opportunities to improve margins and operating performance.
- Monitor budget versus actual results, plant spending, and key manufacturing metrics to support informed business decisions.
- Assist with forecasting, annual budgeting, and financial planning processes for the facility.
- Maintain effective internal controls, support audit requests, and provide schedules and documentation required for external review.
- Use Epicor to manage financial reporting, transactional accounting, inventory analysis, and manufacturing-related data while recommending process and system improvements.
- Partner with finance leadership and peers across locations to promote consistency in accounting practices and operational reporting.
