The Hearing Center at Rocky Mountain Ear, Nose and Throat , located in Missoula, Montana is looking forward to sharing their knowledge with you. Work with a friendly close-knit team of audiologists, ENT physicians, and mid-level providers as you embark on your final year of education!
Our services include:
Hearing evaluations Hearing aid selection with fitting and after care Tinnitus evaluation and treatment Cochlear implant candidacy with assessment, selection, fitting, and aftercare Bone-anchored device candidacy with assessment, selection, fitting, and aftercare Vestibular diagnostics The Hearing Center has received Missoula's Best Hearing Specialist award too- a distinction which we take to heart in crafting treatment plans for our patients in Missoula , and the communities of Butte and Hamilton . The anticipated ending date is mid-June 2028 . This is designated as Full Time. A stipend is provided. This site has 5 full-time staff audiologists.
We serve the following populations:
pediatric, school-aged, developmental disabilities, adult, and geriatric.
Expect the following experiences:
Diagnostic Evaluations Cochlear Implant Evaluations and Mapping Auditory Evoked Potentials Hearing Aid Evaluations and Dispensing Bone Anchored Hearing Devices Vestibular Evaluations Tinnitus Evaluations and Treatment Practice Management Hearing Conservation Assistive Technologies The Inter-professional and collaborative practice experiences include: ENT physicians, Family Members, Speech-Language Pathologists, ASL Interpreters, Students and Peers The overall number of students at this site is 1-2. The number of externs at this site is expected to be: 1. Some travel is expected and may include the following locations: Hamilton and Butte. The majority of the externship will be spent in Missoula. Must be a 4th year extern (or 3rd year if part of an accelerate program).

Start Date:
June 2027 Expected hours/days a week: 40 Travel to satellite centers required? Yes 45 miles to Hamilton (1-2 days a week). 120 miles to Butte (2 days a month at most). Travel is with the audiologist attending that clinic.

Yes Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: Preferred to have the PRAXIS already completed so you can focus on clinical learning. Mastered audiometry, tympanometry, and reflexes. Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: Will learn pediatric testing, cochlear implantation mapping, osseointegrated implant programming, hearing aid programming with REM and speech mapping, and vestibular testing.
