UF Health in Gainesville is seeking a CVT Surgical Technologist to support complex cardiovascular and thoracic procedures in a high-acuity academic medical center. The technologist will prepare and maintain a sterile field, anticipate surgeon needs, manage specialized CVT instruments, and ensure accurate counts and documentation. Responsibilities include OR room setup, equipment troubleshooting, and close collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms and specialized CVT equipment for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures Maintain strict sterile technique and manage surgical instruments and supplies Anticipate surgeon and team needs throughout procedures Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping for CVT surgeries Perform and document accurate instrument, sponge, and sharps counts Help troubleshoot and operate CVT-related OR equipment Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia, and perfusion teams Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality standards in the ORSupport onboarding and mentoring of new or student surgical technologists Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives Required Skills Cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures Operating room sterile technique Surgical instrumentation and setup Intraoperative support and retraction Use of electrosurgical and suction devices Patient positioning and draping Inventory and instrument tracking systems Infection prevention and control OR safety and emergency protocols Collaboration with surgeons and perioperative team
