UF Health is seeking a Surgical Tech II - Cardiovascular to support complex cardiovascular and cardiothoracic procedures in our advanced operating rooms. In this role, you will prepare and maintain the sterile field, select and manage instruments and supplies, and anticipate the needs of surgeons during procedures such as CABG, valve repair, and vascular interventions. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and perfusionists to promote patient safety and optimal outcomes. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain sterile field for cardiovascular and cardiothoracic procedures Select, organize, and manage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment Anticipate surgeon and team needs throughout each procedure Assist with patient positioning, draping, and room turnover Verify implants, instruments, and counts per policy to ensure patient safety Operate and troubleshoot basic OR equipment used in cardiovascular surgery Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and perfusionists for coordinated care Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality standards at all times Document required intraoperative data accurately and timely Participate in ongoing education, competencies, and process improvement initiatives Required Skills Cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures Sterile technique and aseptic practice Surgical instrumentation and equipment management Operating room workflow and patient safety protocols Infection prevention and control Intraoperative counts and documentation Use of electrosurgical units and suction devices Reading and following surgeon preference cards Hemostasis assistance and specimen handling Interdisciplinary communication in the OR
