Curry Health Center invites applications for a Clinical Lab Specialist I to be on-call and perform all clinical testing in all laboratory areas. You will exercise unique knowledge in the areas of phlebotomy, epidemiology, immunology, microbiology, hematology, microscopy, parasitology, urinalysis and chemistry. This position directly reports to the Curry Health Center Laboratory Supervisor.

• Perform, verify and document quality control to ensure that test method is working properly and implement corrective action when indicated Interpret results obtained regarding accuracy, acceptability and critical limits Correlate abnormal laboratory results with pathologic and physiologic states to determine validity and reasonableness of data Interpret results in regard to history, diagnosis and therapy Participate in an approved proficiency testing program Run and maintain all the laboratory equipment Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent and greater than four (4) years of experience in microbiology, immunology, chemistry, hematology Certification with the State of Montana as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or as a Clinical Laboratory Technician Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent Accrue 14 Continuing Education Credits Ability to lift 40 pounds which requires mobility and physical demands Must be skilled in handling blood and body fluids per OSHA requirement Must be able to support patients who have passed out until other staff members can assist Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of Orchard Laboratory Interface Program (LIS) Working knowledge of Medicat Electronic Health Records (EHR) Two (2) years of working experience in an accredited CLIA laboratory as an MLS or MLT Two (2) years of working experience as a phlebotomist

Bargaining Unit:

This position is not represented by a collective bargaining agreement.

Work Schedule:

On-Call, 0.2 FTE, 12 months/year

Probationary Period:

Six (6) months minimum
