Job Description
Job Overview Seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our growing family! Our new modern office is in need of excellent and outgoing team members who love making patients smile! The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for patient care and orthodontics, with comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting procedures, clinical confidentiality policies, and orthodontic treatment protocols. As an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting orthodontists during patient procedures, managing clinical workflows, and ensuring a comfortable experience for our patients. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialized skills within the field of orthodontics and general dentistry. Opportunity to do treatment coordinating also available. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental x-rays, including intraoral images and Itero 3D scans, ensuring accuracy while adhering to dental sterilization procedures. Manage patient records using electronic records such as Dolphin and Dentrix, ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations. Provide patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring comfort throughout treatment sessions. Perform vital signs assessment and medical documentation as required for pediatric dentistry cases or patients with special needs. Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow through patient management software, and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Maintain dental equipment functionality and assist with dental instrument processing to ensure readiness for daily operations. Uphold infection control standards by following healthcare infection prevention protocols and dental sterilization procedures diligently. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with specialization in orthodontics preferred; experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry is advantageous. Proficiency in systems such as Dentrix and Dolphin familiarity with patient management software is essential. Knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy relevant to oral health care. Certification in dental assisting, radiography (dental x-ray), or related fields is required; additional certification in pediatric dentistry or oral surgery is a plus. Strong understanding of dental equipment operation, dental sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team. Pay:
$27.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 - 40.0 per weekBenefits:
