Job Description

Part-Time Essential Functions:
Physical stamina-requiring lifting up to 50 lbs., push, pull and bend frequently throughout work day Ability to climb, kneel, squat and reach/lift overhead occasionally during work day Considerable standing and/or walking (90% of work time) Visual acuity Hearing acuity Working conditions: Work is performed indoors in well-lighted and ventilated rooms. Possibility of cuts, scrapes or burns from equipment. The hazards are typical of institutional kitchens, such as hot cooking surfaces, sharp objects, equipment noise, electrical equipment and wet/greasy floors. Exposure to inclement weather while taking out trash or transporting food and hazardous cleaning chemicals. Required to wear hair nets/caps and gloves. Equipment/Machines Convection oven Conventional oven Gas cook top Vegetable steamer Microwave Coffee maker Food chopper Blender Can opener Dishwasher Commercial mixer Household mixer Steam tableigh school graduate or equivalence preferred Able to read and write accurately and legibly Able to follow oral and written directions Previous food service experience preferred Current ND driver's license CPR certification (required within 3 months of employment)
Duties:
Follows guidelines for table setting/tray service according to diet order and/or resident preferences Follows guidelines for portion control using correct scoop size Serves food on clean, attractively garnished plates Ensures food is served at correct temperatures and palatability Covers, dates and refrigerates leftovers Follows sanitary procedures while preparing and/or serving food Follows sanitation guidelines while working with or cleaning equipment Completes cleaning duties as directed Monitors and records cooler, freezer and dish washer temperatures Assists and puts away groceries and supplies Take out trash daily Other duties as assigned Under general supervision, assists in food service to residents, patients, daycare and senior meals. Performs routine food service tasks in kitchen that includes portioning food, table setting and dishwashing. May be required to transport food.
