Night 12-hour shift
Hours:
5pm-5am QPS Employment Group is hiring a Lab Technician for a company in Milwaukee, WI. This is an associate to hire opportunity. Lab Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Cut samples using a power cut-off saw
- Mount samples and maintain accurate manual logs
- Polish mounted samples for testing and evaluation
- Perform hardness testing including Rockwell Standard testing, Rockwell Superficial testing, Microhardness testing, Brinell hardness testing using a Detroit Brinell tester
- Measure total and effective case depth using microscopes and hardness testers
- Evaluate decarburization using 30-point Knoop testing and visual inspection methods
- Measure compound zone (white layer) using 500x microscope magnification
- Capture and save sample images using microscope camera systems
- Understand and apply various sampling plans
- Print and review SSI System trend charts
- Read, interpret, complete, and initial work orders accurately
- Enter test data into TQM software
- Prepare and complete customer certifications using Word, Excel, and TQM
- Initiate non-conformance reports for out-of-specification parts and forward to the Plant Metallurgist
- Tag and place nonconforming parts on hold as required
- Perform verification of hardness testing equipment
- Follow established lab cleaning and maintenance routines
- Ensure proper identification, labeling, and storage of laboratory chemicals
- Operate a forklift (must be Certified Lift Truck Trained)
- Adhere to all company safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Hazardous Materials protocols
- Complete all required safety training
Lab Technician Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move between workstations for extended periods
- Manual dexterity to handle small parts, tools, and precision instruments
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Strong visual acuity for detailed inspection and microscope work
