Associate degree preferred with experience in an office and/or medical setting. One year of employment experience in the medical field. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for educational requirements. Valid NYS Driver's License requiredJob Summary:
In accordance with the organization's mission, vision, and values, the Medical Assistant is responsible for operating as a team member and provide support services to the medical team that assist in meeting the medical and psychiatric needs of our clients.The following duties will apply:
Duties Duties:
Obtaining vital signs from patients 2.Assisting with patient searches. 3.Observing and processing urine drug screens. 4.Observe clients after medication administration. 5.If certification requirements are met, entering requisitions and completing bloodwork. 6.Assist with cleaning and preparing client rooms. 7.Follow infection control principles and cleaning guidelines. 8.Assists with the following responsibilities:
screening, intake, orientation, referral, counseling, crisis intervention and response, patient education, case management, reporting and record-keeping, and consultation with other professionals. 9.Responsible for carrying out treatment planning in milieu. 10.Assists in providing therapeutic interventions to foster clients' social, cognitive, and behavioral skill development. 11.Provide transportation for clients to and from treatment-related appointments or community activities. 12.Report to nursing staff any changes noted in any of clients' medical conditions, mental status or behavior and then document it on the appropriate paperwork when requested. 13.Assist clients in addressing issues and challenges by role-modeling appropriate responses. 14.Assist in teaching the clients about personal care, household chores, daily living, community resources and safety awareness. 15.Interface with community support systems, agencies and families 16.Participate in general, staff, in-service and supervisory meetings held by the Agency. 17.Actively participate with the program team in completing proper daily maintenance of living areas including cleaning and maintaining an orderly environment. Assist with light cleaning. 18.Complete the shift checklist of designated tasks (for evening and overnight shift assignments). 19.Support client in goal attainment. 20.Esurance of safety and security of all clients, staff and facilities. 21.Perform other duties and functions as directed.Other Skills/Knowledge and Experience:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 2.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with culturally diverse persons, staff and community service providers. 3.Working knowledge of behavioral health issues. 4.Comfort/ability to intervene in crisis/support de-escalation of struggling clients 5.Ability to multi-task, have good problem solving & time management skills and the ability to remain calm in crisis.Benefits
