Per District Agreement Minimum Qualifications Pursuant to New York State Education Law §902, candidates must meet the following requirements: Duly licensed physician (MD or DO), licensed Physician's Assistant (PA), or licensed nurse practitioner (NP) in New York State Knowledge of school health regulations and New York State Education Law Experience in pediatric or community/public health settings preferred Knowledge and experience in the delivery of emergency cardiac care (required for AED oversight per Public Health Law §3000-B) Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate with school administration, staff, parents, and community health agencies Key Duties and Responsibilities The Medical Director will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: School Health Services Program Develop, oversee, and coordinate a comprehensive school health services program in accordance with Education Law §901 Inform parents/guardians, students, and teachers of student health conditions subject to federal and state confidentiality laws Guide parents, students, and teachers in procedures for preventing and correcting defects and diseases Instruct school personnel in procedures to follow in cases of accident or illness Survey school facilities and make recommendations concerning health and safety aspects Health Examinations and Screenings Conduct health examinations for students who lack documentation from a private healthcare provider, including new entrants and students in grades PreK/K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 (Ed Law §§903, 904) Perform examinations for working papers and pre-participation athletic physicals (8 NYCRR §§135.4, 136.3) Conduct required vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings at required grade levels (Ed Law §904) Conduct health examinations for students referred to the

upon request (8 NYCRR §§200.4, 200.1) Emergency Care and Public Health Provide nonpatient-specific orders to district-employed RNs for administration of immunizations, emergency treatment of anaphylaxis, and urgent treatment of opioid-related overdose (Ed Law §6907) Function as the emergency health care provider for the district's public access defibrillator program (Ed Law §917; Public Health Law §3000-B) Identify and immediately send home students showing signs of communicable or infectious diseases and notify the local public health agency as required (Ed Law §906) Provide training to unlicensed school staff who will administer epinephrine auto-injectors or glucagon per patient-specific orders (Ed Law §921) Additional Responsibilities Participate on the
