Job Description
Overview We are seeking a qualified Medical Director to provide medical oversight for our EMS and Paramedic education programs. This is a flexible, limited-time commitment focused on clinical guidance and program quality, not day-to-day administration. The Medical Director will collaborate with program leadership to ensure curriculum, clinical education, and student competencies reflect current EMS standards and evidence-based practices. Routine operations, scheduling, student management, and administrative duties are handled by program staff. Duties Provide physician oversight for EMS and Paramedic education programs. Review curriculum, clinical content, protocols, and student competency standards as needed. Serve as a medical resource for program leadership and faculty. Support compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements. Provide guidance regarding patient safety, clinical practice, medications, and EMS protocols. Participate in periodic quality improvement and program evaluation activities. Attend occasional meetings when Medical Director participation is required. Provide necessary medical approvals, signatures, or attestations. Time Commitment This position is designed to have a minimal administrative burden. Program staff manage daily operations, classes, scheduling, and routine student matters. Medical Director responsibilities primarily involve periodic consultation, review, and approvals, with remote participation available when permitted. Qualifications MD or DO with a current, unrestricted physician license in the state of Rhode Island Knowledge of emergency medicine, EMS, prehospital care, or a related clinical field. MUST be ED/EMS Physician (Adult or Pediatric) practicing in Rhode Island. Familiarity with EMS protocols and paramedic scope of practice. Strong clinical judgment and communication skills. EMS or Medical Director experience preferred. Ability to meet applicable state and accreditation requirements for EMS/Paramedic program medical direction.
